Explain that if x is an even and y is an odd , then 3x + 2y + 5 is an odd

Answer:

Well, if x is even, then 3x must also be because even x odd is even.

(*** HINT: If you do not understand, you can find an example and put it in.

Say x is 6. Then 3(6) is 18, which is even)

2y must be even because 2 times any number is even.

And 5 is odd.
So, even + even + odd is (6 + 4 + 1 for ex. is 11) odd.
