2(x-10)=9 The first step is to get rid of the brackets to do this we multiply 2 with everything inside giving us 2x-20=9. The next step is to isolate the variable and ti do this the first step is to get rid of 20, so you add 20 to both sides giving you 2x=29. So the answer is 2x-20+20=9+20
