(x-2)^2, how do i do this, I'm confused and need help

DONT distribute the exponent

Instead, expand it to (x-2)*(x-2)

Multiply the First terms, Outer terms, Inner terms, then Last terms (FOIL)

Writing it out: (x*x) + (x*-2) + (-2*x) + (-2*-2)

Simplify: x^2 - 2x - 2x + 4

Answer: x^2 - 4x + 4

If we are trying to find the roots of the polynomial, the answer is 2 because you have to factor the equation.
