(a) let number of miles Carol walked be e.

Patty walked 7 miles more than Carol.

Patty walked e + 7 miles.

Let total number of miles walked be T

that is how many miles Carol walked plus how many miles Patty walked

T = e + (e + 7)

(b) :Let number of miles patty walked be p.

p = e + 7

e = 9

P = 9 +7

P = 16

(c) T = e + (e + 7)

T = 11 + (11+7)

T = 11+18

T=29
