What volume in milliliters, of a 60% hydrochloric acid solution must be added to 100ml of a 30% hydrochloric acid solution to make a 36% hydrochloric acid solution?

Answer:

Since 30% of 100 ml = .3*100 = 30 ml

60 % of X ml = .6x which we are trying to solve

add

(X+100).36 = 30+.6x

.36x+36 = 30+.6x

so

6 = .24x

x = 25 ml
