Answer: son is 10 years old and father is 40 years old

Explanation:

Let the present age of son is x years

Then the present age of father is 4x years

4x+20=2(x+20)

4x+20=2x+40

4x+20-20=2x+40-20

4x=2x+20

4x-2x=2x+20-2x

2x=20

Divide both parts of the equation by 2:

x=10 years

4x=4(10)

4x=40 years
