During the French revolution, It was an era to make people more even and hand out jobs based on table and not nobility in power. If you came from a popular family you were pretty much guaranteed many opportunities based on your popularity, not talent.

During the Whiskey rebellion, It was a rebellion/protest of a whiskey tax enacted by the federal government. And they wanted to completely remove taxation and declared it "unfair taxation." There was a praise of French revolution, and of bringing the guillotine to America. Low-class civilians who took part in the Whiskey rebellion wanted to rob and fix societies favoritism on the rich/wealthy.
