I'm not sure why this is being marked as wrong. The answer to the next question was 16 so I know its correct. Im thinking there might be another way to write it?

The total area is 376 square feet. The rectangle portion has an area of 120 square feet. That leaves 376-120 = 256 square feet for the square portion.

So we can say the following:

\text{x}^2 = 376 - 120\\\\\text{x}^2 = 256\\\\\text{x} = √(256)\\\\\text{x} = 16\\\\

Or a slight variation is this

\text{x}^2 = 376 - 120\\\\\text{x} = √(376 - 120)\\\\\text{x} = √(256)\\\\\text{x} = 16\\\\

The side length of the square portion is 16 feet.
