Answer:

  • A polynomial consisting one nonzero term is called a monomial. For eg :- 5, 3x,
    (1)/(3)xy are all monomials.
  • A polynomial consisting two nonzero terms is called a binomial. For eg :- (3 + 6x), (x - 5y), (5x²y + 2yz) are all binomials.
  • A polynomial consisting three nonzero terms is called a trinomial. For eg :- (8 + 3x + x²), (3y - 5xy + 7xy²), (xy + yz + zx) are all trinomials.
  • An algebraic expression in which the variables involved have only non-negative integral powers is called a polynomial. For eg :- 5x³ - 4x² + 6x - 3 is a polynomial in one variable x , 9y⁴ + 6y³ + 10y² - 8y +
(2)/(3) is a polynomial in one variable y.
