• the diagonals of a rectangle are congruent , then

AC = BD , that is

4x - 8 = 2x + 10 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

2x - 8 = 10 ( add 8 to both sides )

2x = 18 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 9

Then

BD = 2x + 10 = 2(9) + 10 = 18 + 10 = 28

the diagonals are 28 units long
