Answer:

I like to think of this like money. If you have $30..00 and you have tax to add to it then what you want to do is:

Divide the number you wish to increase by 100 to find 1% of it.

Multiply 1% by your chosen percentage.

Add this number to your original number.

There you go, you have just added a percentage increase to a number!

In this case you would have $31.80

So adding 6% to 30 is 31.8!

Explanation:

We have a number, 30. We need a six percent increase. 6%=6/100=.06

30 x .06 = 1.8 and it's an increase so we add the original number to how much its increased by 30+1.8= 31.8

Otherwise, if you wanted to eliminate the adding step, you could take 30 x 1.06, and that factors the increase right into the final product. The one is meaning the original number and the .06 is still the increase.
