Answer:

Explanation:

Givens

Smallest odd number = 2x + 1 The one guarantees that the number is odd. The 2 in front of the x makes sure it is even to start with.

The larger odd number is 2x + 3.

Equation

2x + 1 + 3(2x + 3) = 330 Remove the Brackets

2x + 1 + 6x + 9 = 330 Combine

8x + 10 = 330 Subtract 10 from both sides.

8x +10-10 = 330 - 10 Combine

8x= 320 Divide both sides by 8

x = 40

Answer

2x + 1 = 2*40 + 1 = 81

2x + 3 = 2*40 + 3 = 83
