Think about it — you have a coin. Imagine you’re in your room and you leave this coin at your desk. If you take a bunch of steps back, the coin shall be tiny. However, if you walk up to the coin, close one of your eyes and put your other eye right next to it, it will appear very big since it shall be occupying all of your field of vision.

Therefore, they appear larger!
