Answer:

\displaystyle{ - \frac{5 } {8} - ( ( - 4)/(3) )}

  • (-)×(-)=(+)

\displaystyle{ - (5)/(8) + (4)/(3) }

  • Multiples of 8={8,16,24,32,40,48...}
  • Multiples of 3={3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27...}
  • Least common multiple=24

So,

  • Converting each of them into equivalent like fractions:

\displaystyle{ - (5)/(8) = - (5 * 3)/(8 * 3) = - (15)/(24) }

\displaystyle{ (4)/(8) = (4 * 8)/(3 * 8) = (32)/(24) }

Now you can add the like fractions easily.

\displaystyle{}- (15)/(24) + (32)/(24) = - (15 + 32)/(24) = - (17)/(24)
