the restaurant bill is $23.40 i am planning to tip the waiter 15% of their bill. how much money do they leave as a tip?

you have to make the two fractions, since we have the total, which is 23.40, we are assuming that 23.40 = 100%. So, we need to get 15%, but we don't know the amount, what we need to do is cross multiply the fractions, I left a picture with everything. We multiply x which is the variable by 100. We get 100x and then we put an equals sign and multiply 23.40 times 15 and we should get 351. it should look like this "100x = 351". Now we are going to divide those two amounts by 100 to get the "X" alone. 100x divided by 100 is x. and 351 divided by 100 is 3.51. We have x = 3.51 Sooo your answer is 3.51 :) HOPE THAT HELPEDDD :D
