Answer:

I think that Grandpa made the right decision by following his intuition to travel and visit his family. He sensed that he would die He sensed that he would die and "he had to follow the tradition of his family to pass the medicine bag, along with its history, to the oldest male child" .No one else was aware of the story and it was sacred to the family. He knew that he would go soon but not exactly when and telling Martin the story was important. Also, it was a great idea to spend what time he had left with his loved ones. Martin also got embarrassed by his Grandpa because he thought they would laugh at him and call him a liar. In the beginning, the passage said, "We never showed our friends Grandpa's picture. Not that we were ashamed of him but because we knew that the amusing tales we told didn't go with the real thing." and at the end, it states, "My buddies passed in single file and shook his hand as I introduced them. They were so well mannered I almost laughed." Since his Grandpa came, he taught an indirect lesson to Martin by his friends meeting his grandpa and not making fun of him or calling him a liar.
