A polynomial is a combination of terms separated by + or - signs.
(x-2)(x-6)
↓
x^2-8x+12

x^2-8x+12
x times x minus 6x minus 2x minus 2 times -6. then u get x^2-6x-2x+12. add -6x and -2x to get -8x
