Explanation:

Use the formula y2-y1/x2-x1

I plugged in 4-0/4-2=2

y=mx+b

plug in the x and y values

I used the (2, 0) values

0= 2(2)+b

0=4+b

-4= -4

-4=b

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

• General equation of a line:

y = mx + b \\

  • m is slope

b is y-intercept.

{ \boxed{ \rm{slope = (y _(2) - y _(1))/(x _(2) - x _(1) ) }}} \\

  • y2 → 4
  • y1 → 0
  • x1 → 2
  • x2 → 4

{ \tt{slope = (4 - 0)/(4 - 2) }} \\ \\ { \tt{ = (4)/(2) }} \\ \\ { \tt{m = 2}}

let's find y-intercept:

{ \tt{y = mx + b}} \\ \\ { \tt{0 = (2 * 2) + b}} \\ \\{ \tt{b = {}^( - )4 }}

• therefore, equation of a line is:

{ \underline{ \underline{ \tt{ \: \: y = 2x - 4 \: \: }}}}
