y = 3

Explanation:

Points: (1, y), (-5, -1)

slope = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)

slope = (-1 - y)/(-5 - 1) = (-1 - y)/(-6)

slope = 2/3

(-1 - y)/(-6) = 2/3

Multiply both sides by -6.

-1 - y = -6 Ă— 2/3

-1 - y = -12/3

-1 - y = -4

-y = -3

y = 3
