Explanation:

Slope formula: m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

3/4=(y2-y)/(x2-x1)

3/4=(-3-y)/(-1-7)

3/4=(-3-y)/(-8)

(3/4=(-3-y)/(-8))*(-1) ==> Negate the equation to remove the negative denominator

-3/4=(-3-y)/8

8*(-3/4)=(-3-y)/8 * 8

8*(-3/4)=(-3-y)/8 * 8

-24/4=-3-y

-3-y=-6

-3+3-y=-6+3

-y=-3

y=3
