Explanation:

First, Add up all of the numbers: 6 + 7 + 11 + 12 + 19 = 55

Square the total, and then divided the number of items in the data set55 x 55 = 3025

3025 / 5 = 605

Take your set of original numbers from step 1, squared them individually this time, and added them all up:(6 x 6) + (7 x 7) + (11 x 11) + (12 x 12) + (19 x 19) = 711

Subtract the amount in step 2 from the amount in step 3:711 - 605 = 106

Subtract 1 from the number of items in my data set:5 - 1 = 4

Divide the number in step 4 by the number in step 5:106 / 4 = 26.5

Finally, take the square root of the number from step 6 (the variance),

√(26.5) = 5.1478150704935
