Is it fine if I cancel out the minus sign from both the numerator and the denominator and change the plus-minus sign into a plus sign? If not, pls tell me why :D (Be as detailed as u can :D)

Explanation:

with ± (plus-minus) sign, you have to work out the two cases.Therefore there're two solutions for this question i.e


x = ( \pm4i)/(-2) \implies x _(1) = (4i)/(-2) \: \: \text{and} \: \: x _(2) = ( - 4i)/(-2)

and this simplifies to
x_1=-2i,x_2=2i
