The larger of two numbers is 10 less than twice the smaller number. If the sum of the two numbers

is 38, find the two numbers.

larger number=22

smaller number=16

Explanation:

let 2x-10=larger number

let x=smaller number

x+2x-10=38

Simplify

3x-10=38

+10 +10

Add 10 to both sides of the equation

3x=48

divide both sides by 3

x=16

First answer.

2x-10=22
