Do parentheses first by using distributed property for it to look like this
5-3y+6=5y-5
Combine like terms
11-3y=5y-5
Get rid of -3y by adding 3y and add 3y to 5y
11=8y-5
Get rid of -5 by adding 5 and add 5 to 11
16=8y
Divide 16 and 8
Y=2
