Explain why mass is used to measure the properties of solids, liquids, and gases.

Mass takes into account the force of gravity.
Mass is a measure of weight that stays constant.
Mass is a measure of matter that does not change.
Mass and gravity are both necessary for accurate measurements.

Mass is an extensive property of a matter which describes the number of particles in a matter. According to the law of conservation of mass "mass can neither be created nor be destroyed." Hence mass is a quantity which never changes whether a particle is in a solid, liquid or gaseous state.
