a linear pair of angles sum to 180° , then

∠ 1 + ∠ 2 = 180° , that is

∠ 1 + 2∠ 1 + 6 = 180° ( subtract 6 from both sides )

3∠ 1 = 174° ( divide both sides by 3 )

∠ 1 = 58° , then

∠ 2 = 180° - 58° = 122°
