A lady went to a bank with Rs. 1,00,000. She asked the cashier to give her Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes in return. She got 175 currency notes in all. Find the number of each kind of currency notes.

Let the number of Rs 500 be x

and no. of Rs 1000 be 175-x

ATQ, 500x + 1000 (175-x) = 100000

500x = 75000

x = 75000/500 - 150

Therefore, no. of Rs.500 notes = x = Rs.150

and no. of Rs.1000 notes - 175 - x - 175 - 150 = 25
