7x+5=6x I don’t get this because I have no idea what to subtract by, and I know the answer is -5 but I have no idea how to get there

Answer:

Explanation:

7x + 5 = 6x Subtract 6x from both sides

7x - 6x +5 = 6x -6x

x + 5 = 0 Subtract 5 to both sides

x + 5 - 5 = 0 - 5

x = -5

Let’s set up our initial equation for reference:

7x + 5 = 6x

Given the numbers, our first step will be to subtract 7 from both sides:

7x - 7x = 0
6x - 7x = -x

Now our equation is:

5 = -x

Since -x is the variable, we divide everything by it (note that x alone is always equal to 1):

5 / -1 = -5

-1 / -1 = 1

Our final answer is -5/1. This improper fraction reduces to -5.

By subtracting 6 from both sides, the same answer would be received.
