Explanation:

a. The table shows you the grade in the upper row and in the lower row difference between upper row and 90. So to calculate lower row you need to do X-90 where X is upper row value. To calculate upper row you need to do X+90 where X is lower row value

so you get column 3:

79-90=-11

column 4:

90+7=97

column 5:

96-90=6

column 6:

-3+90=90-3=87

b. To answer this question we would need to simply sum all the values from the Above/Below row for all 6 columns:

-7+4+(-11)+7+6+(-3)= -7+4-11+7+6-3=-4. Since the value is negative it means it's below 90
