When an unbalanced force acts on an object, the object at rest is no longer at rest. It becomes an unbalanced force. This is stated in Newton’s First Law of Motion:
An object in rest stays in rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. The same principle applies for an object in motion; it stays in motion unless it is acted upon by an unbalanced force.
