Using the prime factorization method
36= 2x2x3x3
45 = 5x3x3
63= 3x3x7
Therefore the greatest number common to both is 3x3 = 9

Answer: 9

Explanation:

I like to write out a multiplication of the lowest factors for each of the numbers and then compare them to find what might be the Greatest Common Factor.

Now,

36 = 2 × 2 × 3 × 3

45 = 3 × 3 × 5

63 = 3 × 3 × 7

∴ the GCF is 9.
