Solve the equation

2x2+ 8x - 1 = 0
by completing the square
Give your answers correct to 2 decimal places.

Answer: The answer comes out with three but you can take off the 5 i suppose.

Explanation:

2x2+8x-1=0

Step 1: Multiple: 2x2=4 / 4+8x-1=0

Step 2: Combine like terms: 4+(-1)=3 / 3+8x=0

Step 3: Subtract 3 from both sides: 3-3=0 and 0-3=-3 / 8x=-3

Step 4: Divide both sides by 8: 8x/8 -3/8=-0.375

Step 5: -0.375
