How do you find the nth term of 70, 110, 150, ….

Answer: an=40(n-1)+70

Explanation:

70, 110, 150, ….

Notice the terms get bigger by 40 as the sequence progresses. Hence, we can model this sequence with a linear equation. y=40(x-1)+70 where y=term value, x=term number and 70 is the first term.

y=40(x-1)+70

an=40(n-1)+70 ==> an=term value/nth term. n=term number
