Explanation:

To find the slope you have to divide y over x: y/x or most commonly known as rise/run.

We start at the point where the line is touching a point, in this case it's -8 in the y axis.

Then we count up until we find another point that the blue line is touching. In this case at the coordinates (2, -2). So there's 6 values up from -8 and we have to move to the right 2 values to reach the point the blue line is touching.

So we use the formula rise/run or y/x:

6/2 = 3

This is very hard to explain in just text! I hope you understand
