-15+x and -x-15

-33/x and 33/-x​

1) For the first one, x is positive and -15 is negative

If you were to replace x with 1 we would get an answer of -14

For the second one, x is negative and -15 is negative

If you were to replace x with -1 you would get -16
So they are not equivalent!

2) For the second one, x is positive and -33 is negative

Since it is division it would not matter which one is negative, it would have the same outcome

If you were to replace x with 1, for the first one the answer would be -33/1 which is -33.

For the second one the answer would be 33/-1 which is also -33

So they are equivalent!

The first pair isn’t equivalent because x in -15+x sums up to -14 and the x in -x-15 sums up to -16.
The second pair is equivalent because they both end up with -33 as the quotient.
