Hi there,

I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy!

-9 (y-13) = 16

This is called a linear equation. Let's distribute:

-9y + 117 = 16

Now we need to subtract 117 from both sides

-9y +117-117=16-117

-9y = -101

Now divide both sides by -9

(-9y)/(-9) = (-101)/(-9)

y = (101)/(9)

Happy to help! All the best this semester!
