A model of a ship is made to a scale of 3 : 400

The surface area of the model is 7200 cm²
Calculate, in m², the surface area of the ship.

Explanation:

From the question it is given that, a model of a ship is made to a scale of 1:250

(i) Given, the length of the model is 1.6m

Then, length of the ship =(1.6×250)/1

=400m

(ii) Given, the area of the deck of the ship is 2.4m2

Then, area of deck of the model =2.4×(1/250)2

=1,50,000m2=4m2

(iii) Given, the volume of the model is 1km3

Then, Volume of ship =(1/2503)×1km3

=1/(250)3×10003

=43

=64m3

Therefore, volume of ship is 64m3.
