When using an objective lens with a magnification of 4x, the total magnification is 40x and the field of view would have a diameter of around 4.00 mm. When an objective lens with a magnification of 40x is used, the total magnification would be 400x. This decreases the diameter of the field of view to around 0.4 mm.
