Read the passage.
There was once a quiet cove in a river where lived a colony of turtles. The water was warm and food was abundant, but they became
discontent. They felt that if they could have a king to rule over them, their domain would become more meaningful.
They sent word to the god of the river that they needed a king. The river god had better things to think about and ignored their request. But
just then a floating log drifted into the turtles' cove. "Here is our king." the turtles rejoiced.
At first, the turtles were grateful, but as they came to climb on the log, they realized that it did not have the power of a king.
Again, they appealed to the river god. "This king has no power over us or anything else. Please send us a mighty king." Again, the river god
went about his business. But, by chance, a crocodile swam into the turtles' cove.
"Another worthless king." chided the turtles as they went to climb on.
It was then that the turtles learned what a mighty king can do.
