Answer: not proportional

====================================================

Step-by-step explanation:

Rectangle A = 12 x 15

Rectangle B = 18 x 21

Divide the corresponding sides of each rectangle.

I'll make the dividing order B over A.

  • smaller sides: B/A = 18/12 = 1.5
  • larger sides: B/A = 21/15 = 1.4

The results 1.5 and 1.4 don't match up. They're close, but not quite the same.

Therefore, the rectangles are not proportional

Another approach:

Divide the larger side over the smaller side for each rectangle separately.

  • A: 15/12 = 1.25
  • B: 21/18 = 1.167 approximately

The results don't match, so the rectangles are not proportional
