Explanation:

the shaded area (A) is calculated as

A = area of circle - area of rectangle

= πr² - lb ( r is the radius of the circle )

given diameter = 10 cm then r = 10 cm ÷ 2 = 5 cm

A = (π × 5²) - (8 × 6)

= 25π - 48

≈ 30.5 cm² ( to the nearest tenth )
