Answer:

\large\boxed{x^(2) -1}

Explanation:

How to multiply polynomials?

To multiply polynomials, apply the FOIL method, where:

  • First
  • Outside
  • Inside
  • Last

Applying FOIL:

(x+1)(x-1)

First

x*x=x^(2)

Outside

x*(-1)=-x

Inside

x*1=x

Last

1*(-1)=-1

After applying FOIL I ended up with this answer:
x^(2) -x+x-1.

You might notice that we can simplify this a bit by adding
-x and
x. Their sum is
0:

x^(2) +0-1

x^(2) -1
