Hi guys can u help me

I need a explanation for this :

" the women tended to the sick and maintained rations the sepoys were inspired by begum and mauling ahmadullah. however ,the british held out,even though a few were killed by bullets and sickness. the fate of the revolt was decided by the failure of the sepoys here"​
