Background

The formula for slope-intercept form is:

y = mx + b

y = the y value of a point on the graph

x = the x value of a point on a graph

m = the slope of the graph

b = the y-intercept of the graph

Define

slope:
(rise)/(run) =
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2) -x_(1) )

y-intercept: where the graph intersects the y-axis = (0, y)

Walk Through

y-intercept = b = (0, -3)

*marked in red on the graph below

Slope = m =
(4)/(3)

* marked in blue on the graph below

Input all that you into the slope-intercept formula by looking at the graph

y =
(4)/(3)x - 3

Key Words

slope

y-intercept
