Answer: To start residents would have to vote for a new party. As it stands hundreds of millions of Rands (South African Currency) have been lost through corruption and financial mismanagement- nobody's been charged and nobody's gone to jail. The government continues to take advantage of their voters yet they keep getting voted back into power.

Explanation: The South African government should ensure corruption, nepotism and outright theft are not perpetrated by their own colleagues. While this would be a beneficial start, it’s only the beginning.

The government needs to stop its stranglehold on the private sector, and stop over-taxing the ever diminishing middle class, who are emigrating or getting poorer. Currently more people claim government welfare than pay taxes. This situation is untenable.

The government needs to encourage and support business growth and SMEs which is the backbone of a prosperous country. These opportunities must be made available to all, and not just the well-connected few linked to the government.

It’s only then that the South African treasury will be able to afford a worthwhile and effective universal social security service.

If things don’t change, I predict South Africa will become a failed state in 10 years.
