The length of a rectangle is 6 ft longer than its width.

If the perimeter of the rectangle is 48 ft, find its area.

Answer:

area=135

Explanation:

The width is 9 and six more would make the length 15 which 15+15=30 and 9+9=18 which added together is 48 which would make the perimeter 48 which is what they told us the perimeter is so to find the area you multiply the 15 and 9 to get 135.

Width = w

Length = w + 6

Perimeter = 48

Perimeter = 2(l + w)

Perimeter = 2(w + 6 + w) = 48

2(2w + 6) = 48

4w + 12 = 48

4w = 48 - 12

4w = 36

w = 36/4

width = 9

length = w + 6 = 9 + 6 = 15

Area = length × width

= 15 × 9

= 135 ft²
