575 tickets were sold for a game for a total of $675.00. If adult tickets sold for $1.50 and children's tickets sold for $1.00, how many of each kind of ticket were sold?

Answer:

Adult is 200$ and children is 375$

Explanation:

I. The clues we got are total tickets and total price.

adult price is 1.5$ and children price is 1$

Given a = adult and c = children

a + c = 575 => {total tickets}

1.5a + 1c = 675 => {total price}

II. Find a and c values by eliminate a or c

{total price} - {total tickes} will return to

(1.5a - 1a) + (1c - 1c) = 675 - 575

0.5a = 100

a = 200

III. Replace a value in {total tickets} will return to

200 + c = 575

c = 375

IV. Prove by replace a and c value in {total price}

200(1.5) + 375(1) = 675

300 + 375 = 675 true

That makes adult ticket is 200 and children ticket is 375.

Hope that help :)
