a = 90, b = 30

Explanation:

If one is three times as great, it must be the bigger number

a - b = 60

a = 3b

-b = 60 - 3b

b = 3b - 60

b - 3b = -60

-2b = -60

2b = 60

b = 30

a - b = 60

a - 30 = 60

a = 60 + 30

a = 90
