Lets say we have
(x^5)^7. What does this really mean?

It means we have 7
x^5s all multiplied together.


x^5 * x^5 * x^5 ... * x^5 7 times. If we expand the
x^5, we get


(x*x*x...*x )*(x*x*x...*x)...*(x*x*x...*x)

Now, we have 5 x multiplied together 7 times. How many x is that?

its 7 * 5 x, or 35. So, it's equal to
x^3^5

This is the power law we'll need here;


(x^a)^b = x^a^b

Explanation:


(8^5)^4 = 8^5^*^4 = 8^2^0
