Significant points:
-Caused considerable unrest by imposing heavy taxes.

-Was an authoritarian with his subjects, and is often seen as tyrannical, or having unlimited power over the people and often using it unfairly and cruelly.
-He refused to share power with the citizens of the “new colony” of New Amsterdam.
-He had three children and is buried in New York, New York.
